The Fake in the Cathedral Ghent, Belgium, 1934. Thieves cut a panel from the famous altarpiece. The 'Just Judges' vanished forever. A ransom note came. Then silence. In 1939, artist Jef Van der Veken began painting a replacement. It was quietly installed with the originals. Millions of visitors still see the forgery today.
