The First Robot Death January 25, 1979. Flat Rock, Michigan. Robert Williams, age 25, worked at Ford. A storage robot was running slow. He climbed up to grab parts himself. The one-ton arm swung silently. It killed him instantly. The machine kept working for 30 minutes.
