The Real El Dorado Spanish conquistadors searched for gold cities. They drained Lake Guatavita repeatedly. They found little. Then in 1969, a peasant found a small cave near Pasca. Inside sat a tiny gold raft. It showed a chief coated in gold dust. The legend was real. The ceremony was the city.
