The Cat Who Knew

The Cat Who Knew Oscar lived at a Rhode Island nursing home. He ignored most residents completely. But he would curl up beside specific patients. Hours later, those patients died. Staff began calling families when Oscar visited. Dr. David Dosa documented more than 25 such deaths in a 2007 NEJM essay, with more reported in the years before Oscar's own death in 2022.
