The jar in your medicine cabinet was once a 'croup salve.' πŸ«™ . . . Lunsford Richardson mixed the first batch in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1894 and named it Vick's Magic Croup Salve. It promised to cure diphtheria, croup, and pneumonia β€” diseases that killed one in four children. It cured none of them. But it sold, and sold, and never left the shelf.
