We nearly nuked Arkansas with a dropped socket. π³οΈ . . . On September 18, 1980, an airman servicing a Titan II missile near Damascus, Arkansas dropped a 9-pound socket. It fell 80 feet and punctured the rocket's fuel tank. Nine hours later the silo exploded, hurling the 740-ton door skyward. The 9-megaton warhead β 600x Hiroshima β was found about 100 feet from the entry gate, intact.
