Pompeii’s “crushed man” was not killed by the boulder. 🌋 . . . In May 2018, archaeologists found his skeleton beneath a massive stone block from the AD 79 eruption. His missing skull suggested a grisly decapitation, but it was later recovered nearby. The likely killer was the pyroclastic flow—the boulder merely created a 1,900-year-old false ending.
