The Millionaires' Dam

The Millionaires' Dam May 31, 1889. A private fishing club owned a dam above Johnstown. Members: Carnegie and Frick. They had lowered it for a road. They had screened off the spillway. Heavy rain hit. The dam failed. A 40-foot wave struck town at 40 mph. 2,208 died. 99 whole families. No member ever paid damages.
