Mike the Headless Chicken Fruita, Colorado. September 10, 1945. Farmer Lloyd Olsen swung the axe at dinner. The chicken stood back up. Most of the brain stem was still there. Olsen fed Mike grain and water through an eyedropper. Mike toured the country for 18 months. He choked to death in a Phoenix, Arizona motel room in 1947.
