Her Notebooks Still Glow Marie Curie carried radium in her pocket. She kept test tubes of it in her desk drawer. She called the soft blue glow 'a fairy light.' She died of radiation poisoning in 1934. Her cookbook is still too radioactive to touch. Visitors must sign waivers and wear lead aprons.
