Boston was struck by a 35-mph wave of molasses. 🌊

Boston was struck by a 35-mph wave of molasses. 🌊 . . . On January 15, 1919, a storage tank released 2.3 million gallons into the North End. The sticky surge reached up to 25 feet high, smashed buildings and killed 21 people. Rescuers then discovered that molasses could trap a person like quicksand.
