Ruby the elephant painted pictures worth thousands. π¨ . . . At the Phoenix Zoo, Ruby regularly gripped brushes in her trunk and applied colors to canvas under keeper supervision. Her paintings raised money for conservation, and one reportedly sold for $25,000. When Ruby died in 1998 at age 25, the zoo had lost both an elephant and its most unusual artist.
