The Roof of the World Bar-headed geese cross the Himalayas every year. They fly at 5,000 to 6,300 meters. Oxygen there is about half of sea level. Human climbers need bottled air. The geese don't stop to rest. A 2011 study tracked them finishing the climb in seven to eight hours.
