The Beer Tsunami

The Beer Tsunami London, October 17, 1814. A 22-foot vat burst at Meux Brewery. Hundreds of thousands of gallons of porter erupted. A wave swept through St Giles slums. Eight people drowned in beer. Five were mourners at a basement wake. Another was a teenage barmaid. The brewery was found not liable.
