The Frozen Chicken Experiment Francis Bacon stopped his carriage in the snow. He wanted to test if cold preserved meat. He bought a hen and stuffed it with snow. The freezing wind chilled him to the bone. He developed pneumonia within days. He died on April 9, 1626.
