A bog held a woman down for 2,500 years with wooden stakes. 🪵 . . . In 1835, peat cutters near Haraldskær in Denmark uncovered an Iron Age woman dating to roughly 490 BCE. She had been pinned into the bog with wooden crooks driven through her knees and elbows. Mistaken for 10th-century Queen Gunnhild, she was sealed in a glass sarcophagus in Vejle's St. Nicolai Church. She's still there.
