A police helmet became the most famous fig leaf in sports history 🎩 . . . On April 20, 1974 at Twickenham, 25-year-old Australian Michael O'Brien streaked across the England vs. France rugby pitch. Constable Bruce Perry, arms outstretched, covered him with his custodian helmet. Photographer Ian Bradshaw's shot won a World Press Photo Award and LIFE's 'Picture of the Year' in 1974. O'Brien was fined £10.
