Marlboro was once sold as a women's lipstick-friendly cigarette πŸ’„

Marlboro was once sold as a women's lipstick-friendly cigarette πŸ’„ . . . Philip Morris launched Marlboro in 1924 as a luxury cigarette. By the 1930s, marketing leaned toward women with the slogan 'Mild as May.' The filter had a red 'beauty tip' band β€” engineered to hide lipstick stains on the paper. Sales flopped for decades. In 1954, ad man Leo Burnett rebranded it around a rugged cowboy. Within four years, Marlboro was the #1 cigarette in America.
