The Seal With a Maine Accent Hoover was orphaned in Maine in 1971. Fisherman Scottie Dunning found him and he was raised in a bathtub by the Swallows. They talked to him constantly. By age 7, Hoover started talking back. He greeted visitors at the New England Aquarium with 'Hello there!' and 'Get outta here!' in a thick Maine accent until 1985.
