The Woman in the White Cap

The Woman in the White Cap Queens workers were digging a foundation. The year was 2011, not the 1800s. They hit a rusted iron coffin. Inside: a young Black woman, perfectly preserved. White knitted cap. White burial gown. She had been buried around 1850. DNA testing later identified her as Martha Peterson.
