The first cat to circumnavigate Australia has his own statue. π . . . Trim, a black-and-white kitten born aboard HMS Reliance in 1799, sailed with Captain Matthew Flinders on the first circumnavigation of Australia from 1801 to 1803. When Flinders was jailed by the French on Mauritius, he wrote a 3,000-word tribute to Trim. A bronze statue of Trim now sits outside the State Library of NSW.
