Winston Churchill knelt on a battleship to pet a cat. πββ¬ . . . In August 1941, off Newfoundland, Churchill met Franklin Roosevelt aboard HMS Prince of Wales to sign the Atlantic Charter. As he was disembarking for the return trip, he stopped to pet the ship's black cat, Blackie. A Royal Navy photographer captured it. The crew renamed the cat 'Churchill.' Four months later, the ship was sunk by Japanese aircraft; 327 men died.
