A dropped wrench socket almost nuked Arkansas. πŸ’₯

A dropped wrench socket almost nuked Arkansas. πŸ’₯ . . . On September 18, 1980, airman David Livingston dropped an 8-pound socket in a Titan II silo near Damascus, Arkansas. It fell 80 feet, pierced the missile's fuel tank, and hours later the rocket exploded β€” launching a 9-megaton warhead (3x all WWII bombs combined) hundreds of feet away into a roadside ditch. It did not detonate.
