A robot just outran the fastest human in history. AP reports that at the opening of the second World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing on August 22, 2026, a humanoid robot made by Beijing-based X-Humanoid sprinted 100 meters in 9.39 seconds — faster than Usain Bolt's legendary 9.58-second world record set in 2009. The same robot also cleared 2.88 meters in the standing high jump, smashing the human record of 2.45 meters. More than 2,000 robots from around the world competed in the Olympics-like event.
