On July 28, 2026, a Chinese robotaxi hit London streets for the first time — Baidu's Apollo Go began road tests in the borough of Brent, partnered with Freenow by Lyft.

A Chinese self-driving robotaxi just pulled onto London streets for the very first time. Electrek reports that Baidu's Apollo Go — the same autonomous vehicle platform that completed 3.2 million fully driverless rides in Q1 2026 — began road testing in London's Borough of Brent on July 28, paired with Freenow by Lyft. The vehicles arrive fresh off receiving the world's first fully driverless trial permit in any right-hand-drive market, granted by Hong Kong just days earlier. Public rides are planned for 2027.
