Scientists found a fungus in Oregon that covers 2,400 acres underground and is potentially 8,650 years old

The world's largest living organism is a giant fungus. Armillaria ostoyae spans 2,400 acres beneath Malheur Forest. It kills trees by strangling their roots. The fungus may be 8,650 years old. Larger than 1,600 football fields combined underground.
