The Cleveland Gas Inferno

The Cleveland Gas Inferno October 20, 1944. A storage tank started leaking. The vapor seeped into sewers and basements. Then it ignited. Flames shot 2,800 feet into the sky. Manhole covers blew skyward across the St. Clair-Norwood neighborhood. 130 people died. 79 homes vanished. One square mile gone in hours.
