The President in the Reactor Chalk River, Ontario. December 1952. A reactor partially melted down. The US Navy sent a 28-year-old lieutenant. His name was Jimmy Carter. He led 23 men into the core. Each man had 90 seconds inside. That was a full year's radiation dose. They disassembled it by hand. Carter peed radioactive for months.
